We are an After School Spanish club for bilingual children in primary school age. We focus on learning reading and writing skills. If your child is not bilingual, you can not join this class. However, we can still assist and prepare him via private or small group lessons for English children.

FAQ’s
Do I need to pay for all the monthly classes even when my child cannot attend some? Yes, like every other club you need to pay for all the monthly classes.
Does my child need to bring pencils or paper? No, we provide everything for your child. The only thing he need to bring to class is a folder.
My child brought a folder to class and left it in class? Yes, folders stay with the teachers and go home on the last class of every term.
Can I pay at any other day? Payment is due monthly in advance ahead of the first class of the month. Any late payment will incur a £5 charge which will go towards materials for the class.
Can my child bring water and a snack to class? Water is no problem. Snack not possible as we are not allowed to eat in the Studio.
How do I know how my child is doing with his Spanish? You can request a report from the teachers at any time. Just send us an email and the report will go home in your child’s folder at the end of the term.
Can I park my car anywhere in the Studio Car Park? Preferably just use the car park to drop and pick up your child. However, if you need to stay please make sure you do not take the space designated to Wildcate Studio Unit 16 as the teachers will be using this. Thank you!
Can my child opt out the books sharing system? Yes, they can. Bringing a book to exchange with a classmate for a week is optional. However we do encourage this, as it is proven to be very beneficial for their learning.
CONSEJOS PARA LOS PADRES
Cómo aprovechar al máximo el ‘antes’ y el ‘después’ de AQUI ESTOY
-LIBRO: Cuando vuestro niño llega a casa con su libro semanal de lectura, acompáñalo, lee con él y si lo notas cansado, léele tú. Apenas lo veas interesado en la historia, señálale ciertas palabras del libro para que las lea él mismo en voz alta. Vuelve a ultilizar este método una y otra vez y si adviertes que el interés por el cuento ha aumentado, deja que el niño lea más de una palabra, una oración, todo el párrafo o toda la página.
Cartelitos: (El cartero) Al finalizar el libro en préstamo, incentiva a tu hijo a utilizar el ‘Post it, nota o cartelito’ proporcionado por Aquí estoy para escribir en dos líneas si le ha gustado el cuento o no y su firma. Esta nota la leerá el siguiente niño que reciba el libro. Esta especie de juego epistolar da muy buenos resultados y vuestro hijo estará practicando tanto lectura como escritura.
-TRADUCTORES: Los lunes y los miércoles deberían ser días de la semana dedicados al español. Vuestro hijo -por cansancio o comodidad – intentará hablarte en inglés. Por ejemplo: Tu le preguntas ¿ Qué tal fue hoy la clase? Respuesta: Very good. Tu inmediatamente dices: ‘Muy buena clase. Me fue muy bien’. Tu hijo automaticamente repetirá lo que les has traducido. Tu continúas en español: ¿Qué hicieron en la clase? Tu hijo dirá ‘A lot of things’ (otra vez intenta cambiar el idioma a lo que le resulta más cómodo). Tu traducirás: ‘Muchas cosas’. Es decir, serás una especie de ‘Traductor simultáneo’. Este método – que para algunos padres resulta un poco agotador al principio- tiene enormes beneficios y es 100% más efectivo que el típico ‘Háblame en español hijo. Por qué me contestas en inglés si yo te hice la pregunta en español’.
Sobre gustos…hay varios libros escritos: Trata de buscar la versión en español de los mismos libros que a tu hijo le gustan en inglés. Por ejemplo ‘Harry Potter y la piedra filosofal’ en español y con imágenes aún mejor.
